No Need For Words :: Instrumentals For Summer

Spencer Dunham, bass man for our favorite gritty Los Angeles throwbacks The Allah-Las, has curated and compiled another excellent mix of vinyl-ripped oddities and rarities. Last winter Dunham shared Rockers & Romancers with us: a selection of reggae joints Dunham culled from forgotten records he encountered while working at Amoeba Music. Now we have No Need For Words: an instrumental summer-themed compilation whose grooves warmly pop and crackle, from the transportive sitar-sliced Indian funk of Rolling Stones' classic "Jumpin' Jack Flash" to the hot and sweaty Ghana reggae-funk of George Danquah, and two woozy guitar-clawed covers from the surf-era rock of The Ventures. Whether your poolside, beachside, driving down the highway, or even inside (though hopefully not for too long), this is the soundtrack your summer's been waiting for.
