King Tuff - "Bad Thing"

We've heard the two singles from Kyle "King Tuff" Thomas's Suicide Squeeze 7"—"WIld Desire" and "Hole In My Head"—and now the fine folks at neighboring Seattle label Sub Pop have unleashed the first jam from Tuff's forthcoming self-titled LP: "Bad Thing." A gnarly bit of glam, attitude, and amped-up guitars, "Bad Thing" is really all you could hope for out of an LP with Thomas's throaty vocals at turns whispering and shouting: "I'm a bad bad thing." The artwork isn't too shabby either, continuing King Tuff's line of classic album covers with its devil horned bat carrying an axe and star-topped magic wand. The 12-track record is out on May 29th.

Video: Fruit Bats - "You're Too Weird"

Eric Johnson of everybody's favorite Fruit Bats douses new single "You're Too Weird" in a wash of falsetto and early 1980s soft-rock cheese. It's a combination that's perfectly visually portrayed in the band's video for the track with a couple mustachioed appearances, along with rolled up blazer sleeves, big hair, neon lighting, and a lingerie-clad model. In short, Don Johnson would be proud. The Fruit Bats' excellent 5th LP together, Tripper, is out today. Check out the video after the jump and then go snag the album from Sub Pop.

King Tuff returns with Happy Birthday

Kyle Thomas, the creative force behind the great power-pop savvy King Tuff, is officially returning to your eardrums on March 16th with his new band, Happy Birthday. Fuzzy, psychedelic, hook-filled pop jams are en route. Till then, enjoy the first single off the band's debut.

New Beach House: "Norway"

Once you've settled into the quiet, ethereal tones of Baltimore's Beach House, it becomes hard to take off that comfortable blanket of fuzzy textures and sound. After their overwhelming succes last year, the duo is now set to follow up Devotion with its Sub Pop debut, Teen Dream—due out January 26th. And yes, the album cover appears to be a bunch of zebra butts.
