Doris Troy - "Just One Look"

"Just One Look" is an infectiously happy song recorded by Doris "Mama Soul" Troy back in 1963. There are some absurdly terrible covers by Rick Springfield, Linda Ronstadt and the Hollies and it's very sad that these exist—please avoid them. The original, however, is a beautiful guitar and piano pairing that bounces along under the timeless vocals of Troy which prove irresistible to sing along to time and again.

  1. Thank you for sharing this! As soon as I listened to the sample, I went straight to iTunes and bought the song, and I'm not the type of person to do that (usually I just burn CD's).

  3. Awesome post! Also, kind of random in a really neat way. I remember this back from that pepsi commercial in the mid '90's, with cindy crawford. Even back then, I remember being like "hm.. what a kickin love song..."
