Writer/director
John Hughes passed away today at the age of 59 after suffering from a heart attack. The wildly successful Hughes was responsible for an array of 1980s comedies (
Ferris Bueller's Day Off,
Planes, Trains & Automobiles,
Pretty In Pink,
Weird Science,
The Breakfast Club) and a couple of excellent 1990s family films (
Beethoven,
Home Alone). His films also propelled a few memorable songs into the limelight.
